American Dance Festival Master Class w/Joy Davis
Details:
Dance Studio AA146
Master Class Description:
Countertechnique class prepares the body for rehearsal and performance. Within a clear class structure, it provides tools for body and mind to deal with the demanding dance practice of the 21st century. It is a movement system to help the dancer think about the dancing body by focusing on the process of incorporating information into action. The goal is to enable dancers to move bigger, with fluidity, and spatially, while becoming stronger and more flexible. Students will be introduced to the Toolbox: a framework from which ideas and principles of Countertechnique are accessed during an exercise. The priority is to experience clarity and enjoyment of movement. Dancers are encouraged to be proactive in discovering connections and solutions, to be less concerned with judging themselves, and to work in a healthy way physically, mentally, and emotionally.

She began studying Countertechnique with founder Anouk van Dijk in 2005 and became a Teacher in 2012. Pilates Training Workshop with Rachael Lieck Bryce
Details:
Dance Studio A107
Masterclass Description:
All Pilates starts here.
If you want to be a Pilates teacher there are dozens of ways to become one. All kinds of hybrid and fusion inspired Pilates techniques can take you into the fitness field. But there's only one path back in time to the original work. Real Pilates trains you from the source, the primary technique and methods created by Joseph Pilates himself.
In the Real Pilates Teacher Training program you'll learn every exercise, every variation and every piece of equipment ever created by Joseph Pilates. In this workshop we will dive into what it looks like to be in the Real Pilates Teacher Training program, what it feels like to be a Pilates teacher and what you could sound like. You will get hands on instruction, a workout, and practice teaching like a pro. You will learn a sample size of the mat, how to verbally cue, and some hands on technique, along with the history of Pilates.
Pilates starts here. Learn the practice the way "Uncle Joe" invented it.
We can show you how.
Teacher Bio: Rachael Lieck Bryce is the owner and senior instructor at Pilates Methodology in
Dallas, TX. She is dedicated to the classical Pilates method, and has worked with
clients ranging from five to 85 of all fitness levels. Bryce teaches from a place of

A former contemporary dancer, Bryce was introduced to Pilates through her college
ballet teacher. She first trained with Colleen Glenn in Dallas, completing a rigorous
program through The PilateSystem in 2001. She received her second certification with
New York–based Power Pilates in 2006, and became a teacher trainer for Power Pilates
three years later.
