Darrell Cleveland Memorial Scholarship I – * amount - $500 (tuition waiver) * purpose - attend a 2021 2 week summer intensive at Ballet Academy of Texas in Coppell, TX * eligibility - any dance student 13 - 21 who does not currently attend BAT and shows potential for all forms of dance * preference given to ballet students under age 18 * funding - Lisa Slagle, in memory of teacher Darrell Cleveland, who taught at BAT for over 15 years.
Denton City Contemporary Ballet Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any ballet intensive/workshop more than 100 miles from the student’s home * date - summer 2021 * eligibility - any ballet student – preference given to student age 13 - 19 who lives in Denton County, Texas * funding - Denton City Contemporary Ballet
E John Busser Ballet Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any ballet intensive/workshop more than 100 miles from the student’s home * date - summer 2021 * eligibility - any ballet student age 12 - 14 - preference given to young dancers with appropriate level of technical ability for their age with potential based on their artistry * funding - E John Busser Foundation.
Elaine Harper Memorial Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer ballet intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from the student’s home * date - summer 2021 * eligibility - open to a ballet student age 13 - 21 with intermediate-advanced ballet technique and artistic passion * funding - anonymous.
Fred Kelly Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer ballet intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from the student’s home * date - summer 2021 * eligibility - open to a ballet or jazz student age 13 - 21 with artistic passion * funding - The Lambs Foundation.
George Skibine Memorial Scholarship for a Male Dancer – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from home studio* date - summer 2021 * eligibility - any male student age 13 - 21 * funding - “I believe very strongly in summer study as a supplement to a dancer’s education.” – Thom Clower.
Janice LaPointe-Crump Memorial Ballet Scholarship– * amount - $1000 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer ballet intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from the student’s home * date - summer 2021 * eligibility - any ballet student age 13 - 21 * funding - friends and family in memory of Janice LaPointe-Crump.
Marjorie Tallchief Scholarship – * amount - $1000 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer ballet intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from the student’s home * date - summer 2021 * eligibility - open to a female ballet student age 13 - 17 with advanced pointe technique and artistic passion * funding - anonymous.
Nathalie Krassovska Memorial Ballet Scholarship – * amount - $800 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer ballet intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from home studio * date - summer 2020 * eligibility - any ballet student age 13 - 21 * friends of “Natasha” Krassovska, Prima Ballerina Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo & Artistic Director of Ballet Jeunesse.
Natalie Skelton Tutu Memorial Ballet Scholarship - * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any summer ballet intensive/workshop at least 100 miles from the student’s home * date - summer 2014 * eligibility - any ballet student age 13 - 21 * funding - friends of Natalie Skelton.
South Dallas Dance Festival Scholarship – * amount - $900 * purpose - attend any dance studio/institution during summer 2021 - perform as Guest Artist with South Dallas Dance Festival in November - eligibility - any black dance student ages 13 - 21 - Scholarship will be awarded in 2 parts: $450 (cash) in May and $450 (cash) in November after SDDF performance * funding - ArgaNova Dance, Loris Anthony Beckles, Artistic Director
Modern Scholarships
Charles Andrew Kulp Scholarship – * amount - $1,000 (cash) * purpose - attend further study of modern dance technique or choreography at least 100 miles from home studio * date - summer 2021 * eligibility - any high school sophomore to college freshman who will study at a summer program such as Julliard, Ailey, etc. * funding - anonymous – in loving memory of Charles Andrew Kulp – “It is my hope that this scholarship will help a young dancer recognize part of his/her dream and bring a touch of magic to that life.”
Darryl Sneed Scholarship – *tuition waived (valued at $350) *provides full tuition to Dallas Black Dance Theatre’s summer intensive - includes classes in jazz, ballet, modern and praise dance *dates - June/July 2021 *eligibility - open to students ages 13 - 21 who reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex or students who can commute or who can provide their own housing. No housing included. *funding - Ann Williams in memory of Darryl Sneed, former resident choreographer and Associate Director of DBDT.

Indian Dance Scholarships
Arathi School of Dance Scholarship – * amount - $250 (Tuition) * purpose - attend program in Dallas, TX, to study Bharata Natyam, a discipline of Indian dance, with a guest artist * date - July 2021 – 3 weeks * eligibility - any dance student age 13 - 21 * funding - Arathi School of Dance
ICHF Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend any Indian classical dance or another traditional dance discipline workshop/program * date - summer 2021 * eligibilty - any U.S. resident age 13 - 21 trained primarily in Indian classical dance – preference given to a high school graduate * funding - Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation (“ICHF”)
Madhuvanthi Kikkeri Memorial Scholarship – * amount - $250 (Tuition) * purpose - attend program in Dallas, TX, to study Bharata Natyam, a discipline of Indian dance, with a guest artist * date - july 2021 – 3 weeks * eligibility - any dance student age 13 - 21 * funding - family of Madhuvanthi Kikkeri
Dance Writer Scholarship
Margaret Putnam Scholarship for Dance Writers – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend a dance critic/writing conference or course * date - summer 2021 *eligibility - no age restriction - the applicant should demonstrate a keen interest in dance; dance training is a bonus; dance critic submits three dance articles written in the last two years: two must be dance reviews and the third a background story on a dancer, choreographer,company, dance work or anything else related to dance (it is not required that these be published writings but they may not be papers used to fulfill a school assignment) * a final report is required, an overview of what was experienced and its impact on the recipient’s development. * funding - proceeds from the Margaret Putnam Tribute Gala held in January 2011

Texas Ballet Theater (FT Worth) Scholarship for a Male Student – * amount - full tuition scholarship ($2,300 tuition waiver) * purpose - attend Texas Ballet Theater Senior Intensive in Ft Worth, TX –June 24 – July 27, 2020 with possibility of joining TBT's professional division and/or the company * eligibility -advanced level male ballet dancer 15 - 21 from DFW area; 5 week program, does not include room and board * funding - Texas Ballet Theater School (Ft Worth).

Buster Cooper Jazz Scholarship - * amount - $800 (cash) * purpose - attend a summer program in jazz dance at least 100 miles from home studio * date - summer 2020 * eligibility - any dance student age 13 - 21 – preference given to jazz, lyrical, or musical theater dancers *submit video featuring Broadway Musical Theatre technique in the style of Bob Fosse, Christopher Gattelli, Susan Stroman or Kathleen Marshall. Denise Gallagher Memorial Scholarship – * amount - $500 (cash) * purpose - attend a nationally recognized musical theater summer program such as Jacobs Pillow, Broadway Theater Project, NYU, Interlochen, STEPS * date - summer 2020 * eligibility - any musical theater student age 15 - 21 *submit video featuring Broadway Musical Theatre technique in the style of Bob Fosse, Christopher Gattelli, Susan Stroman or Kathleen Marshall. (Lyrical or contemporary technique will not be considered); Sing an upbeat song from a musical theatre piece (You may sing “a cappella” or with a karaoke CD.
