Jordan Johnson 14 ~ Gregory Hines Scholarship
As a dance performer, Jordan D. Johnson has been active since the age of three. She started with ballet, tap, and praise dance and has been involved in all forms of dance ever since.
Prior to her most recent experience, Jordan attended the Debbie Allen Summer Intensive sponsored by “Imagination Celebration” held at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth for two years. She has also attended classes at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Los Angeles, California. She has participated with the “Diva Dance Productions: Dance Like A Diva” training in Dallas and served as the mascot for the South Oak Cliff High School “Pivoteers” dance line for two years. She performed during half time shows at the Varsity Football games and other community events.
Last summer, she had the opportunity to train and take classes at the International Dance Academy in Hollywood, California for six weeks.
She is currently fourteen years old and a member of the Senior Performing Ensemble of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre: Dallas, Texas –founder Ms. Ann Williams. As a member of the Senior Performing Ensemble, she performs at various community events and represents DBDA. She has been taking classes with DBDA since the summer of 2010. After attending the summer intensive at DBDA in 2010 she was selected to receive a scholarship for additional instruction.
Jordan recently auditioned and was selected to attend the Dance Theatre of Harlem’s Summer Intensive 2013. She has a passion for dance and enjoys ballet, pointe, jazz, modern and hip hop. She looks forward to formal training in New York.
Her goal is to attend college, and to always be involved with the art of dancing. She would like to teach, choreograph, perform, and ultimately make her mark in the dance world by being known for her abilities and expertise. She would love to have the opportunity to dance with notables in the dance industry.
