Kylee Hiney 18 ~ Dallas Summer Musicals Academy of Performing Arts Scholarship
Although Kylee Hiney has
danced most of her life, her real training didn’t begin until two years ago when she joined the
Magnolia Dance Project. Finding Magnolia was the
best thing that ever happened to her— a place
where a small group of serious dancers trained and shared a true passion for
dance. As a 16 year old junior in high
school she had to re- learn the basics that weren’t properly taught to her in her
early years; but it made her strive to become the dancer she dreamed of being.
Kylee continues to train at Magnolia as a
full-time college student because she knows she is on her way to reaching her
potential. Dance is what she looks forward to everyday after school
and she spends more time at the studio than she does her own home.

My name is Kylee Hiney and I received the Dallas Summer Musicals scholarship through Dance Council of North Texas this past summer. With no acting or musical experience, this intensive was very beneficial to me. During the three weeks, I learned how to set a stage, learn and rehearse lines, and how difficult it is to dance and sing at the same time! I really enjoyed learning new things and working with amazing directors. I am grateful that the Dance Council chose me for this scholarship because it allowed me to break out of my comfort zone and learn essential trades that will help me be a better rounded performer and open more doors in the future.
