I received the Miss Miriam Memorial Ballet Scholarship. Thanks to the scholarship, this summer I attended the Magnus Midwest
Summer Intensive for four weeks. I had an amazing experience and grew
so much as a dancer. John Magnus, the director, was very passionate
about our growth within the program. The classes were very intense and
pushed me to become a better dancer. I had the opportunity to work with
many amazing teachers. Along with John Magnus, the faculty included:
Tamara Aprea teaching dance conditioning, Patricia Brown teaching
ballet, Teal Darkenwald teaching Jazz, Elicia Edwards teaching ballet,
and Jeffrey Stocker teaching acting. While at Magnus Midwest I made many
new friends
that I am keeping in touch with. At the end of the workshop we put
together a performance. Each level performed two dances, a ballet and a
jazz piece. It was a great learning experience to learn two dances in
four weeks and then perform them in front of a large audience. I am now
better at picking up choreography. This summer I have become a much
stronger dancer, a more passionate dancer, and a better student. I had
the amazing opportunity to attend this wonderful summer intensive
through the Miss Miriam Memorial Ballet Scholarship; thank you so much
Dance Council.
