March 16. The Baroque – Carnatic Connection. The Indian dance company Silambam Houston joins the Dallas Bach Society and The New York Baroque Dance Company in a program of cross-cultural exploration of the commonalities and distinct flavors of Western baroque and South Indian classical music and dance traditions. Every combination is explored: Baroque dance with Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam with Baroque music, Baroque and Bharatanatyam with a mashup of Carnatic and Baroque music and Baroque dance with its original music and Bharatanatyam with its original music. This conversation between cultures was conceived by Lavanya Rajagopalan. Choreographer Catherine Turocy joins the conversation with her costumed troupe from New York. March 29. 15th Anniversary Performance & Gala: Cowboy Songs by Bruce Wood. Cowboy Songs will transport you westward where the plains spread out in front of you and the wide Texas skies go on forever. After the show, you'll enjoy complimentary carnival foods, play midway games, and dance the night away with our line dance instructor, Tony New. Cowboy Songs is Bruce Wood's fun-filled tribute to the great state of Texas. Our gorgeous dancers perform Wood's playful choreography to a Country Western soundtrack by composers like Lyle Lovett, Wylie Gustafson, The Chicks, and more. This year's Cowboy Songs set will be performed live by a world-class band of local musicians fronted by Grammy Award-winner Ginny Mac and Broadway star Jeremy Landon Hays, led by renowned Broadway composer Joseph Thalken.
