Anna Lise Wilkins 14 ~ Nathalie Krassovska Memorial Ballet Scholarship

When Anna Lise Wilkins was four and a half years old, she began taking ballet classes at New England Dance Conservatory in East Longmeadow, MA. It was good recreation, but she wanted a professional training program. At 8, she began training in the Vaganova syllabus at the Massachutsets Academy of Ballet. Anna Lise also trains at the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet.

Her future goals include training with Mme Akhmedova in Silver Springs, MD and competing in international ballet competitions such as Prix de Lausanne and NYIBC. Anna Lise's ultimate goal is to become a professional ballet dancer.

Because of the Natalia Krassovska Memorial Scholarship, I was able to attend the Akhmedova Ballet Academy Summer Intensive on Cape Cod for three weeks. This was my second year attending, and I learned so much!! Mme. Akhmedova focused on my basic technique, and by the end of the intensive, I felt like I improved greatly! I was very impressed with how much she worked with each of us as individual dancers, as well as a in a group setting. Mme.Akhmedova inspired in each of us to dance with great passion and focus.  My favorite part of this intensive was the smaller, more personal attention given to each of us during the morning technique class where we concentrated on artistry and technical precision to build strength. Not only classical ballet repertoire was presented , but also Ukranian character dance, and musical theatre classes too. Our final performance included such challenging pieces as Pas d’Esclave from Le Corsaire, Peasant Pas de Trois from Swan Lake, Carmen, and Diana and Acteon variation! As a closing event, we took advantage of the beautiful scenery around us and participated in a ballet photo shoot on the beach! Thank you Dance Council of North Texas for enabling this amazing opportunity!
